The CEAP Difference! 
 

The Collaborative Education Alternative Program (CEAP) Learning Centre provides a family-friendly facility for primary, intermediate, middle, secondary and adult students and their families. CEAP is licensed by the BC Ministry of Education to provide distributed learning services to students both within and beyond the limits of the School District 69 Qualicum boundaries.

Our Commitment

We are dedicated to supporting all learners, including school-aged children, cross-enrolled students and adult learners. We offer educational guidance, instruction and resource support, respecting and valuing collaboration between all those who support our students’ learning. The CEAP program framework adheres to the Ministry of Education directives for Distributed Learning Programs.

Prior to enrollment, a signed “Collaborative Commitment” must be on file at CEAP. The agreement outlines teacher, parent, and student roles and responsibilities.  CEAP staff is dedicated to helping students and families find options to fulfill their educational growth opportunities.

Support for Learners

The CEAP program provides support to learners in many ways, including

  • Access to face to face instruction, learning activities and tutoring at CEAP facility and online.
  • Access to learning resources from our library.
  • Access to online learning resources.
  • Support for teacher-approved activities and resources from community-based providers.
  • Loans of computers and technology equipment and support for internet connection.

Distributed Learning

Distributed learning is an alternative to classroom-based instruction for K-12 students.  It refers to learning that doesn’t require students to attend a classroom on a daily basis.

Distributed learning uses a variety of methods to meet BC learning outcomes, including

  • Print-based materials
    C
    D-ROMs and online resources 
  • Attending classes and tutorials using Internet tools
  • Connecting to teachers and others students using email, telephone and online chat.
